Edmond&Fils has its own design department. For more than twenty years, the design department manager has been working alongside the technical manager of the company.
One provides his drawings. The other one shapes the steel to bring them to life.
From sketches to realizations on the corner of a workbench, the experience of the one enriches the ideas of the other.
Trials, errors, new trials until reaching the perfect creation, finding the curve that will combine aesthetics and ergonomics at their best, modifying the bend of a tube for a better resistance, thinking again about the welding to reinforce an assembly… the perfect collaboration between the design department and the production line is one of the keys to the quick and efficient prototyping of Edmond&Fils.

FINDING THE PERFECT combination between technology and human hand

For Edmond & Fils, a production line does not assimilate to mass production.
Our employees are multi-skilled. They know the machines well, the newest ones like the very old ones, which are used according to the requirements of each series.

Hence, for the Tuileries collection chairs, owe bend the tubes of the feet and armrests in an automated manner. Same thing for the sheet metal that will compose the backrest, a three-rolls roll bending machine will perfectly give it its
curvature.

But when it comes to welding, a complex and major operation, man’s know-how is irreplaceable. Only they know when the molten metal will provide enough penetration for an optimum resistance, without distorting the visible part of the seat slats.

an anticorrosion protection and a sustainable paint for an Irreproachable wear in time

Edmond & Fils disposes of its own powder-coating line. To get a perfect grip of the paint molecules, advanced techniques are implemented to clean the material of its impurities. An anticorrosion cover is then applied, metallization. After, the paint, in the form of a very fine powder, is sprayed on the surfaces before being heated at
about 200° to allow melting and polymerization. The superiority of this procedure is a significantly higher resistance to ultra-violet and corrosion.

We are working on a furniture whose history is nearly a century old. Inherently, the products coming out of our workshops are also intended to last a long time.
