AN INDUSTRIAL FAMILY BUSINESS SINCE 1976

We are in 1976. Edmond Chastagnier, born in 1924, concludes his teaching career at the public junior school in Tence, Haute-Loire. Where others would consider a peaceful retirement in this village located in the south-east of the Velay, he ponders over the future of his three boys.

Full of the will to pass on, which has conducted his teaching career, Edmond wants to offer his sons the possibility to live in these parts of the country. He therefore gathers his savings and buys the trade of a small wire guide workshop, which
manufactures parts for the textile industry. It’s the beginning of the Edmond & Fils’ adventure …

FROM FATHER TO SONS FOR 3 GENERATIONS

At the beginning of Edmond & Fils, the industrial machines are installed in the basement of the family house. After school and on days off, everybody comes to lend a hand. 

Little by little, the small workshop grows. Once specialised in the manufacturing of one single kind of parts, the business spread its mastery of metal and turned towards the manufacturing of high-quality furniture.

Nowadays, Edmond’s sons and grand-sons manage the business and the complementary activities which allow Edmond & Fils to master the whole production line of its furniture collections.

Edmond Chastagnier, well over 90, used to come every morning to read the newspaper and greet the team at work, always curious of the new machines and the work going on.
