Made in France Furniture,
combining artisan and industrial expertise
Edmond & Fils has its own design office. For over twenty years, the head of the design office has worked alongside the company’s technical director.
One provides their designs. The other shapes the steel to bring them to life.
From initial designs to workbench creations, the experience of one enriches the ideas of the other.
Trials, errors, and new trials until the right piece is created, finding the curve that best combines aesthetics and ergonomics, modifying the bending of a tube for better resistance, rethinking welding to strengthen an assembly… the perfect collaboration between the design office and production is one of the keys to Edmond & Fils’ rapid and efficient prototyping.
Finding the perfect balance between
technology and human skill
At Edmond & Fils, a production line is not synonymous with mass production.
Our employees are versatile. They are well-versed in the machines, both the very latest and the very oldest, which are used according to the requirements of each series.
Thus, for the chairs in our Tuileries collection, the tubes for the legs and armrests are bent automatically. The same applies to the sheet metal for the backrest; a three-roller bending machine will perfectly give it its curve.
When it comes to welding, a complex and crucial operation, human expertise is irreplaceable. Only they know when the weld pool will provide sufficient penetration for optimal hold, without deforming the visible part of the seat slats.
Corrosion protection and a durable paint finish for flawless durability
Edmond & Fils has its own powder coating line. To achieve perfect adhesion of the paint molecules, advanced techniques are used to clean impurities from the material. An anti-corrosion protection is then applied: metallization. The paint is then sprayed onto the surfaces as a very fine powder before being heated to around 200 degrees to allow for fusion and polymerization. The advantage of this process is significantly improved resistance to UV rays and corrosion.
Expertise & Values
We work with furniture whose history spans nearly a century. By their very nature, the products leaving our workshops are also intended to endure for a long time.
This longevity is our added value.
Our machines are efficient, but our people, our craftsmen, contribute just as much value. It is their intelligence and autonomy, their expertise and versatility, and the time they dedicate to their work, that make our difference.
Edmond & Fils has always considered “Made in France” a strength. The complete mastery of our product manufacturing chain ensures our responsiveness and competitiveness.
